In the process of making a decision to have a vasectomy, many men seek
out information on the procedure. This often includes talking with
men who have already had it done. Some of the comments from men who have "been
there; done that" are presented below to assist those who are preparing
themselves for a vasectomy. Some have left an e-mail address and would
welcome direct responses to their comments and experience.

Had the procedure yesterday. Like most I was very nervous. I took the
blue pill and all worries were gone. Procedure was a breeze felt nothing
at all. I did the research before and obviously if you are reading these
posts you did as well. I can honestly say I was all worked up for
nothing. I recommend Dr. Cragg and Brian to anyone thinking of getting
this done. No swelling, No pain.
Couple of my friends had this same procedure done and didn’t follow the
instruction and had swelling. I am following everything to the “T” and
feel great. The hardest thing about the whole procedure is the days
waiting before your appointment.

This whole process was fantastic. There was so much respect given during
the consultation stages, and the procedure itself couldn't have been
easier or less painful. Healing was very quick, and I received clear
results on my first testing attempt. I drove three hours specifically
for this clinic, and couldn't have been happier with my decision. I
would recommend this clinic to anyone.

I would just like to say that anyone worrying about having this procedure
done; don't waste your time worrying! I am writing this one day after
having it done (i did take the mild relaxer & numbing patch),& have not
had an iota of pain! I followed the instructions with the ice pack &
relaxing, & feel great. The only uncomfortable feeling is knowing i can't
have sex for a week! (other than "gentle sex") I would VERY much like to
THANK Brain & Dr. Cragg for making a nerve racking situation very
calming!!! (& once again PAIN FREE!). I am very much looking forward to
spontaneous sex & not have to fret about birth control devices! Once
again THANK YOU!!

I had my vasectomy on Friday afternoon. I went with my wife and
on the drive to Peterborough I started to get nervous. Once I got
into the clinic the friendly staff and Dr. Cragg took the time to answer
any of the questions i had, I opted to only use the "patch". I
can honestly say that i didn' t feel a thing, including the freezing needles. After
the procedure I walked out the same way I walked in.....pain free!
It has been two days and I keep waiting for the pain to start,
but it hasn't. I have followed Dr. Cragg's directions
and have just relaxed.
I would 100% recommend Dr. Cragg to anyone who is considering having
a vasectomy.

To anyone considering having a vasectomy this is the place to go. I
had mine done 3 days ago and like 90% of men out there was very very nervous
and less than thrilled about the idea. The procedure was a little uncomfortable
but tolerable. DR. Cragg does a great job keeping your mind off things
by asking questions about your line of work and about the city where your
from. He is also very caring by always ensuring you are feeling no pain,
and tries to be very gentle so there is little or no swelling or bruising
afterwards. (in my case there was niether) nor did I need any of the pain
pills provided. Some minor discomfort for a couple of days to follow.
But if you follow the outlined instructions and keep your ice pack on
for 24 hours like DR. Cragg suggests there should be no problems. So I
would like to thank DR. Cragg and Brian for making me feel at ease about
the procedure and making my visit a pleasant one.

I had my vasectomy on a Friday afternoon. Drove myself to and from
the appointment. The freezing patch worked great --didn't feel the
freezing needles at all. There were some pulling sensations but
the procedure was essentially painless. I had a bit of an aching
pain that day and took a few Advil and relaxed.
The next day have been basically painless with no medication.
I was back to work as normal on Monday, but could have gone back
to my desk job the next day if necessary.

Really guys it is not that bad, I am a real chicken when it comes to
stuff like this and I have only waited 6 yrs for something that really
was not bad. If the fear of not being a man bugs you then all you
need to remember is that you are more of a man if you do this for your

it does get a wee bit sore but it is managable!

it is now four days after the procedure and i have to say that it
has been a piece of cake.
if you follow the directions that are given to you by the doctor
you will be fine.
you don't feel much during the procedure just some pressure at times. the
valume was great it helps relax you and i strongly recomend the advil
after. dr craig said during the procedure that he was having some
trouble and that i would be sore and swelled and bruised because he
had to dig for my cords. but i was not any of the mentioned. i
took the 400mg dose every 4 hours and the tylenol as well for pain. i
had no swelling and just noticed some bruising today but is not painfull.
if i had to give my opinion to any guy that is on the fence about
having this procedure done. don't be a wimp it is not as bad as
you think, and way better than having to wear a condom or worry about
getting an accidental pregnancy for the rest of you life.
four days of very minor discomfort for a lifetime of pleasure.
to me gonna be well worth it.

I was so nervous! I can have an operation anywhere on my body and
not have a problem with that, but the thought of having even a small
procedure on the most sensitive part of my body was scaring me. I
first talked to Mr. Brian Snell and he reassured me that all would
be well. He explained in detail the best and worst-case scenarios.
All my questions were answered with clarity and reassurance.
Dr. Paul Cragg was a super nice man that also took his
time to answer any questions that I had. There was no
rushing in this procedure. I
really wish that Ontario had more Doctors like Dr Paul Cragg.
To top it all off, my wife was right by my side the whole time.
She saw it all and was able comfort me during the procedure.
Thank you both (Dr Paul Cragg and Mr. Brian Snell) for providing
this comfortable atmosphere for such a worrisome procedure for me.

Well I'm one day "Post-Op", and i can say that i'm very
satisfied thus far with the post-op symptoms.
The Procedure was very simple... i didn't take the sedative
and was slightly worry that it may make things more difficult
for me but it absolutely didn't... i would imagine that "the worst" if
you want to call it that is behind me.
The Procedure only seemed to take around 15min or so--i
was so surprised, there we were chatting about world
events, i didn't realized that he actually started, and
there was Dr. Cragg telling me it was done ! I had no pain and walked out of there just like i walked
in.. no limping, funny walking or soreness... the icepack was MUCH
smaller than I envisioned (only about the size of a CD case)... and
it wore between the jock provided and the underwear, and was not noticable
from the outside..--I was worried about that. But just like
ALL my worrying, it was all for not.
Today, is my first day post op, and things are a LITTLE
tender, but not much, sitting around and being lazy for
the day & watching
movies was my prescription for myself... but i could easily be
up and about if need be.. but it's the weekend, and I
figured i needed to relax anyway !
Everything was very professional, and let me tell you,
not worth the years i contemplated doing this and/or
worrying in the weeks pre-op. Retrospectively,
the hardest part was making the call, mentally, the actual procedure
and post has been an absolute piece of cake. After having this
done, i can say that 100% this should be the ONLY choice for couples. All
the time healing and pain for her to go under is FAR worse than
this... so don't even think about it... take it from me.
Thanks again guys... Sincerely,
Corey

The procedure was very fast and painless. Dr Cragg continualy
asked if I felt anything. when I stated that there was a slight
pulling or I could still feel him "pushing" (the boys went
north in an attempt to hide!) he pumped in more freezing.
I must admit I was very nervous going in but I did not take the sedative. While
speaking with Dr. Cragg during the procedure he stated that the sedative
relaxes you causing less tightness (SHRINKAGE) making it a little easier
to located the parts to be worked on. Take the drugs, the discomfort
I had later in the evening, I believe was due to the amount of pushing
and prodding required to located my "boys".
There was a little bit of bleeding the next day however by noon it
had stopped. The discomfort is manageable just follow the directions
provide for after care.
Dr. Cragg and Brian do a great job of making you feel comfortable. The
office is very relaxing and is not at all like a hospital very "homey".
The anticipation is much worse than the procedure.... You are in
good hands.

At 47 with 4 kids I thought that it was about time to do something
so I discussed a vasectomy with my doctor who recommended Dr. Cragg's
clinic. I am glad he did, I took advantage of the patch and the Valium
and did not feel a thing. Dr. Cragg talked to me through the whole
process which went surprisingly faster than I thought and I was on
my way home. I admit I did feel some minor discomfort and some bruising
afterwards but it was bearable. I strongly recommend this procedure
to anyone that has any fear because I have a low pain threshold and
if I did not feel any others who have the same fear should take advantage
of the " no pain method ". Thanks again to Brian and Dr.

I'll admit openly that like other writers here I was a total whimp
about this! Not a man at all! when my wife suggested it. My immediate
response was, "You want me too, What!" Took me a year to gather
up the courage!
But Brian is a nice guy! Very easy to talk too and that makes it
so much easier. The whole set up is very sensitive to men. The last
thing you want is some female nurse telling you,
"Suck it up" and that she delivered so many kids. Even though
you are placed in a waiting room the way they timed it made it so that
you never sat with someone too long. The last thing I wanted was to
have some "male bonding moment" with some other guy 10 minutes
before I walk in. So privacy was really good.
I took the valium and the patch! I felt I had nothing to prove! If
your nervous at all it really helps settle you down without making you
all weird or on a bad high or something.
I wrote on my registration form that I hoped "the gentle part"
was not a sales pitch. But, Dr Cragg was really great! He was
"very gentle" and even through he has done this 10,000 times
he hasn't lost that sensitivity to the individual. Very good bedside
manner and very nice. Was very professional!
Afterwards, I'll confess it bled a little more than I thought.
Not much half a shot glass I guess not even. You'll be off your
feet for at least 24hrs or my suggestion is plan for that. I rented
a bunch of movies beforehand all very action oriented to remind me
of the man I once was:) Just in case ya know:) But I felt fine and I
still feel like a man. Ice it lots, I had non-stick little pads that
I put the ointment on and kept that on for a week. They work better.
Didn't really need to do it that long but getting an infection was not
an option for me! Take the drugs they give you! They help a lot!
A week later mild tenderness a bit of an ache...I haven't tested
if it still works will wait another week. Wearing the jock strap really
helps.
If your really nervous don't read about what they are going to do.
Do you really want or need to know?:) All you need to know is that you
are in really good hands with these two guys! I let them drive the bus!
I was content with being a passenger:)

5 days post "V day" and feeling as good as I did the day it was
done. My only complaint is that my poor acting skills made it a little hard
to gain much sympathy at home for reasons of "pain and suffering." My
wife gave me ample time to overcome any separation anxiety and come to grips
with the reality of my new found freedom, but it was hard for both of us
to be mindful of the rules of convalescence when I was, truly, feeling great.
I won't pretend that there wasn't a little discomfort, although some
of this was surely generated by my inability to overcome
"mind over matter" issues. However, a day out of the jock strap
(Dr. says 4 days, he means 4 days!) and I'm relaxed enough to feel like
myself again. And now I can sit here and think back fondly on 2 things I'll
likely never do again.... take an extended shower to shave "down there",
and laying on an examination table willfully submitting my boys to a "procedure."
PS. There's a mirror under the pillow at your right hand. Use it, the
whole thing is really quite fascinating.

Quick and Painless..Call Now
The Gentle Vasectomy is the ONLY way to go..2 of my coworkers had the
Traditional Vasectomy a week prior to mine and they still have discomfort
where I don't.....After comparing their visits with mine these are the benefits
of going to Dr Cragg that we came up with..
1. The numbing Skin Patch (I did not feel any needles (they felt every
one of them))
2. Only 1 entry point (Traditional takes 2) less chance of infection
or soreness.
3. No stitches (traditional style you have 2 sets) My coworkers are still
picking at them and they cause a lot of discomfort to them...
4. I was at least 10min quicker on the table then they were
5. No Audience, both coworkers went to 2 different Drs for their Traditional
Vasectomy and both had 2 female nurses watching the entire process..In fact
it was nice going into the Gentle Vasectomy Office and only having to talk
to guys about it..
6. Wait time..I am a worry wart so I was glad to find that the wait time
for Dr Cragg was only 2 weeks and the procedure was down the same day as
the consultation...Anywhere else seemed to be 4-5 weeks just for the consultation.
7. The support strap..Neither of my coworkers were offered or told about
using a support strap and I think that this is a factor of why they swelled
and I didn't...Dr Cragg put an ice pack in it right away and I had no swelling
or bruising at all..Both of my Traditional coworkers had bruising and they
say that they swelled to twice their normal size (thank God I went to Dr
Cragg)
Keep the Jock strap on and over ice them..The hardest part of the whole
experience was not feeling guilty about laying around playing video games
while I was being waited on....Poor Baby (lol)

Well...I was pretty nervous to have this procedure done. I have thought about
it a lot for the past year or so. I finally bit the bullet, and took one
for the team. Considering that it is a pretty sensitive part of the body,
I think I had good reason to be nervous (scared really).
Anyway, I booked the time, and showed up at the appropriate time. The staff
at the clinic were very helpful and nice. The Dr was very aware of my fears,
and was very reassuring that all would be OK. After he put the freezing into
me, he said the worse part was over. He wasn't lying! The needle for the
freezing was more of a slight pinch, as I had used the EMLA patch prior to
getting this needle. Honestly, he was half way through the procedure, and
I was chatting away to him...when I asked if he had even cut me open. From
the time I walked into the clinic until the whole thing was done, was 30
minutes. Most of my fear was fear of the unknown. Hopefully this will help
someone with that. An excellent place to go for a vasectomy. As far as the
post recovery goes...no pain, no swelling, little awkward wearing a jock
strap, but that's really the worst of all of it.

First, let me introduce myself as Canada's self proclaimed biggest wimp
when it comes to having anything to do with the medical profession. I
am 35 years of age and I have anxiety attacks over getting the flu shot every
year. Understandably I wasn't enthused when it came time to discuss
my participation in permanent birth control. My sense of "You
should do the right thing" finally prevailed and I began to research
the procedure. I was pleased to discover the NSV technique and
in particular the level of expertise available to me at the Gentle Vasectomy
Clinic. I found this guest book very reassuring and now that I
am post op, very truthful. The procedure is quick and comfortable. Dr.
Cragg and his staff are personable and professional. I recommend "the

freezing was administered. My wife was present during the procedure
and while Dr. Cragg was talking I thought he was explaining to her what
was about to happen. !
To my delight when he had finished explaining, he was finished. There
is some mild discomfort post op, sort of a dull ache but not enough for me
to need any pain relief. My biggest challenge is just taking it
easy long enough to heal completely. Don't hesitate to make an

Ok, so here is a first. The female partner. Steven and I talked about
this for 6 months. As a couple, we agreed that it would be much better if
he took the "final" responsibility since his recovery time is
less than mine. It was truly a joint decision. Steven asked that I went
with him and I was a part of the consultation. I was more than willing to
oblige. We registered on line together. The staff at the clinic spoke to
me to make the appointment, with Steven's permission. They answered all
my questions a
nd his/my concerns. We arrived a 1/2 hr before the procedure. We were
offered the kit or just the patch. I suggested to Steven that he took the
patch....why be more uncomfortable than need be. He said the patch started
to work right away. We both watched the "corny" video, but related
together the reality of it. Any way, during the procedure I did not go in
( I'm sqeamish). However, now I wished I had. That 15 mins. seemed like
a lifetime in the waiting room. I think I was !
more anxious than he was!!!
Anyway, long story short..... I was worried about waiting a week!! We had
thoroughly discussed this and we have a great sex life. Steven had the procedure
done on Sat. and by Sun. we were exploring the gentle sex approach. No prob
there!!!(strongly recommend)
By Monday (Valentines Day), Steven set the pace, I was afraid of hurting
him! Again, no pain and everything works great!
We figure on 1 month, and we will test for semen! I can't wait not to
have to worry every month!! What a relief, for both of us. (more me than
him when I am counting each day).
So to all you guys out there..... If you love your partner, you will take
the steps, and really nothing changes (except no more worry)

Well, I got home about an hour ago from having the procedure done. The
freezing is gone now, but all I feel is a VERY slight cramping sensation. I
was very apprehensive before the procedure, but when I arrived at the office,
I was greeted cheerfully and professionally. The clinic itself
- set back off the beaten path - is in a beautiful, peaceful setting. I
did take the sedative and the patch beforehand, and recommend it to anyone
undergoing this procedure. I felt NO pain at all during the procedure
-
in fact I wasn't aware that he had started until he was done the first
half! I HIGHLY recommend this clinic to anyone who is contemplating
having the big "V". Please feel free to use me as a
reference.

AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF SECOND GUESSING MYSELF I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND
HAVE THE PROCEDURE DONE. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN DISCUSSING THIS FOR AWHILE
NOW AND FINALLY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GO SEE DR. CRAGG FOR A CONSULT. NOW
THAT I HAVE HAD THE PROCEDURE DONE TWO WEEKS AFTER OUR CONSULT I FEEL A LOT
BETTER ABOUT DISCUSSING THE VASECTOMY WITH OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS THAT EITHER
HAVE HAD IT DONE OR THOUGHT ABOUT OF GETTING IT DONE. I WAS TOTALLY
AMAZED AT THE TOTAL LENGTH OF TIME IT TOOK FOR DR. CRAGG TO DO THE PROCEDURE

OR AFTER THE PROCEDURE WAS DONE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE CONSIDERING

I have two wonderful boys ages 6 and 9 yrs of age. Since the birth of
my youngest son the only means of contraception that we were using were condoms. Like
many of you out there, I was trapped in a latex world and I didn't much like
it. I knew that the pill was not a safe alternative for my wife so we
endured the bondages of latex.
I knew there were alternatives to be explored and had heard of the Gentle
Vasectomy Clinic from a friend. I had my reservations about the procedure,
would a vasectomy diminish my desires, would my testosterone level decrease
as I like to lift weights. I am sure some of the guys reading this have
similar concerns. One day I just decided to have the procedure done. I
told my wife and she was all for it.
I called the Peterborough Office and booked the consultation and procedure
for the following Friday. It was full speed ahead at this point. I was
looking forward to procedure, with thoughts of what sex used to be like before
the confines of latex. I recalled happier times, lying on a romantic
moonlit beach with my wife without a care in the world, letting nature take
its course. OK, that was a movie I watched but you get my drift. The
day of the procedure went without any snags (no pun intended). Dr. Cragg
was a true professional and the procedure was indeed gentle. I followed
the directions of ice and rest for the first 48 hrs. The next week I
took things easy. I had no discomfort to speak of during or after the
procedure. Now to the moment you have all been waiting for. The Sex
is better and more frequent than ever, no more fumbling for condoms, no more
latex separation and no more worries for my wife and I about any new additions. So
don't delay order your gentle vasectomy today for a worry free sex life tomorrow. I
know I have joked about the procedure but seriously. The procedure
went well, with no discomfort and I would truly recommend the procedure
to anyone wanting a healthier worry free sex life.
Thanks Dr. Cragg to you and your staff.
Grant.

I was booked in for a consultation at a Brampton consultant for which I
had to wait three months. The very day I had to go for the consultation it
was cancelled with an alternative date given for 3 months later! Bear in mind
this was for the consultation only as same day surgery was not offered. I
would have estimated having to wait another 3 months just for surgery.
On 2 July 2004 I contacted the Gentle Vasectomy Clinic and was given a
date the very next day. Lee was excellent and very helpful in all aspects
of handling my initial enquiry over the telephone to booking the surgery.
When I arrived for surgery she maintained her high standard of customer service.
I found the setting of the clinic to be very relaxing, with the hustle
and bustle associated with a hospital gladly missing. Dr. Cragg seemed
genuinely concerned about making the procedure as painless as possible.
I particularly liked the fact that Dr. Cragg kept me informed about what
he was doing at all stages of the procedure. I am a true coward when it
comes to pain and I have to say the pain and general discomfort I had envisaged
was gladly missing.
I had some discomfort for about 3 days after the operation, but nothing
too serious. I found the best remedy for the pain was to wear the support
and keep the ice pack in there for as long as possible. I found this to be
of more comfort than the pain killers.
I think that the service provided by Lee and Dr. Cragg at the Gentle Vasectomy
Clinic would be hard to be matched anywhere in the world
Thank you once again.

I just wanted to add, my 5 cents to the guestbook. Had the procedure
done Sat. May 28. I would like to thank Dr. Cragg, and his staff for taking
special care while I was at the clinic. I must say I can't say percentage wise
how much I was worried, but after Dr. Cragg said he was finished, I remembered
commenting, to the doctor "All that for that".
There is no value you can place on a person's craft or profession. That
is definitely how I feel about my personal experience after my trip up
to Peterboro. I come from a large family, and live about 45 min. from Peterboro,
yet of all places I run into my cousin's husband. I also called him after
the procedure was done and we had a chance to compare notes.
The only thing I would say for any man preparing or considering the procedure
done by Dr. Cragg would be to follow his advise. If he says ice, then
ice, if he says rest, then rest. Don't worry either, like I stated earlier,
it was over in minutes, and I personally feel very good. I'm an avid Barefoot
waterskier, and I can't wait to get back at it, but a few more days and
I'm sure I'll be good to go.
Thanks again Dr. Cragg and Lee for making my trip up to the clinic a
comfortable a worry free experience. Remember toes up,

Had my vasectomy done just over a week ago. The whole procedure was very
quick and painless. Mild pressure was all I felt, and the initial needle for
freezing was a breeze. Don't put off getting this done for fear of any pain
involved because there really is none. Afterwards I kept expecting pain to
start when the freezing wore off but it never came. At most was a dull ache
similar to what you might feel if you'd been smacked in that area an hour
before. The most uncomfortable part of this whole experience
is
the hair growing back in. The doctor told me to use mineral oil(baby
oil) to soften the new hairs and that has helped tremendously. I'd like to
thank Doctor Cragg and his staff for an excellent job and I'm really looking
forward to trying out my new toy.

I always said that I would never get a vasectomy done. There was no
way that I was going to let anyone do that to me. I then had two wonderful
children, and then it came time to make a decision.
My wife and I knew that we did not want anymore children. It took
me a year and a half to decide that I would get the procedure done.
I knew right away that I wanted to get the gentle vasectomy done as opposed
to the other way. I contacted the clinic in Peterborough, and had
an appointment set for a week and a half later.
I had the consultation, and procedure done on the same day. I recommend
it that way, then you get it over and done with.
It's now been two days since the procedure, and I have had no complications
at all. I used the patch before the procedure, which I recommend. There
was once during the procedure that I felt pain, and that was when Dr. Cragg
was putting the needle in for the freezing.
The pain was no were near unbearable, and last for literally a few seconds. During
the procedure I felt no pain, however I could tell that the Doctor was working
down there, and again there was no pain, and was no problem. The procedure
was
over before you really knew that Dr.Cragg had even started. It's been
two days now, and I have had no pain really. I have taken a couple
of Tylenol, and Advil the first day, and a half, and used the ice pack every
couple of hours.
I can not believe that it took me so long to decide to get a vasectomy
done. There is nothing to worry about, for me there was no pain.
You just have to be careful for the first little bit just to make sure.
I definitely recommend Dr.Cragg, and his clinic to anyone that is thinking
about getting a vasectomy done. The clinic is really clean, and the
staff are great, and professional.

It's good to finally have the V behind me.
I'm not going to pretend it was a wonderful experience but certainly
the procedure was no reason not to have a vasectomy.
I made two 'ows' during the procedure, and as Dr.Cragg said "two
ows gets you more freezing". As the patch wore off I took two advil
and took two more the next day. It's now my fourth day since the procedure
and although I haven't taken any more pain meds, there is still some bruising
(though not as much as before) and it is somewhat uncomfortable. It's
that vague, fading 'kick in the groin' kind of pain which means that
I still certainly haven't taken part in any of that 'gentle sex' and probably
won't for a while yet.
I'm just relating this because most of the replies here
seem to be of the order of no complications whatsoever. The only complaint
I have about the procedure is the video (which I fast forwarded through, but
guiltily) because there was nothing there I didn't know before and I just wanted
to get the procedure over with.
I can't speak any higher of Dr.Cragg and his location in Peterborough.
I had never been there before and enjoyed the trip (there more than back:) All
in all it's nice to have over with and I recommend the procedure to anybody
interested.
Here's hoping I'm not the one in a thousand with trouble
with sex!

Like everyone who has been through this, I was very nervous and little apprehensive
about this procedure. I had the procedure done on the last day the
Scarborough location was to remain open and that made me a little concerned
as well. Well not only was Dr. Cragg and his staff extremely professional
but the whole procedure was what I like to call
"a piece of cake". I had absolutely no discomfort what so ever
both during (don't forget the patch) and after the procedure. I would
highly recommend this clinic to every man looking to have this done even
if you have to drive to Peterborough. I promise it's worth the drive.

I had the procedure done yesterday by Dr. Cragg and I have nothing but praise
for Dr. Cragg and his staff. The whole procedure was handled very professionally
and I felt at ease the entire time.
I did not use the patch or sedatives, and the only thing I can report feeling
was some minor pressure which was nothing more than uncomfortable. For
hours afterwards, I was expecting the anesthetic to wear off and the pain
to start, but 28 hours later, I am only experiencing some very minor discomfort,
probably due to the jock strap which isn't the most comfortable thing to
wear! I have had no need to take any pain relief whatsoever. I had some minor
bleeding at home, which was entirely my fault as my wife
was curious to see the wound! It stopped fairly promptly!
I recommend Dr. Cragg to you all! Go to Peterborough..it is worth it!

It's been almost 24 hours since I had the procedure done. I don't know
what all the anxiety was for. Stubbing your toe on the coffee table hurts
more and longer. I did not use the valium nor do I think it's necessary
(unless you are a VERY nervous man). I used the patch and that made the
needle virtually painless. There was some very mild discomfort after the
freezing wore off but not even enough to warrant taking Tylenol so I didn't.
The hardest part was dropping my drawers but Dr.Cragg, Debbie and Louise
were so professional, courteous and helpful they made me feel like I
was at home. I would and will recommend The Gentle Vasectomy Clinic to anyone
who is even half thinking about or just to talk to someone for some answers.

Had mine done this morning, consultation and procedure all in one shot.
Although I'm not squeamish, I took the valium offered anyway. It didn't
start to kick in until after we'd left the office. No worries. The whole
visit took about 75 minutes and the worst part of it was the ultra-cheesy
1980s-era video. Dr. Cragg talked to me the whole time making me feel quite
comfortable. My wife even got to be in the room with me and observe the
whole thing. 7 hours later and I'm only feeling a very mild discomfort.
The jock strap isn't the most comfortable thing to wear, but it's not so
bad. All in all, I've got nothing but positives to report about the whole
experience!

In a karmic gesture, I thought that I'd contribute to the very testimonials
that helped me make my decision to get the Gentle Vasectomy.
Reasons to get the "V":
-Two kids. Love them like crazy but no desire for more.
-The thought of my wife having to go back to those pills or even worse,
a tubal ligation where death is a possibility, was simply not acceptable.
So, in my research on the subject the word 'gentle' cropped up in my
google searches (what great Marketing by the way, "No thanks, I'd prefer
the Excrutiating Pain Method please"!) and I dug further. In my office,
one of the guys there had his "V" done at the Scarborough Clinic
of Dr. Cragg's practice and had nothing but good things to say about the
whole experience.
Well, it's been close to 36 hours since the 'snip, burn and staple' and
I must say that it was quite an easy procedure. Some here compare it favourably
to a Dentist visit but for me, it was perhaps even easier. I had mild apprehension
but didn't want the Valium (in the brown bag of goodies) and simply chatted
with Dr. Cragg while staring up at the beach scene cleverly placed upon
the ceiling. In about 15 minutes it was done and aside from a little feeling
of pressure (while he dug out the Vas) and the slightest 'sting' when the
freezing needle went in, there was no pain. I drove myself home and did
experience some mild discomfort (a general aching kind of feeling) for the
next 24 hours or so.
TIP#1: wear the jock strap! Not only does it hold in the ice pack (which
really should have been TIP #1 I suppose) which you'll need for at least
24 hours to stop any swelling in its tracks, but the support keeps the 'lads'
from bouncing around.
TIP #2: don't even think about Boxers!
TIP #3: Don't take the anti-inflammatory unless you really need it as
it is hard on the stomach.
As I mention, I'm in day 3 and feeling quite good. I have just a little
ache occasionally on the right side but this is slowly retreating. I had
some wild dreams last night and woke up with a firm commitment (if you know
what I mean), so it appears that nothing's going to change there. I won't
do anything about it for about a week as the Dr. recommends.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough to give you (a potential "V" candidate
I'm assuming) a fair idea of my situation. The whole Gentle Vasectomy Clinic
experience was very good - from the nice receptionists, the 'Brown Bag',
the comprehensive literature, the laughably bad video from the U.S.A. and
of course the procedure itself.
Loving my new sterile self!

Let me start by saying that my pain threshold is not that high. If I
have the common flu everyone within a few blocks knows about it . That being
said the night before the procedure I took a lot of comfort from the comments
in this guestbook. I must confess though I assumed there was some selective
memory going on since so many people said they felt no pain whatsoever.
Well to my own amazement let me add my name to that long list of extremely
satisfied customers. Took the patch and the relaxation pill. Highly recommend
both. I did not feel the needle at all..........zero pain. Procedure was
over in 10 minutes and other than feeling the freezing taking place, again
I did not feel a thing!! Here is the most incredible part, when the freezing
wore off at home there was very little discomfort. I took one tylenol, (frankly
could have done without it but it was a defensive measure, give me a break.)
The next day, NO PAIN, NO MEDICATION NEEDED, NO BLEEDING AND I HAD TO SEARCH
TO FIND THE SMALL INCISION TO PUT THE CREAM ON! The only problem now is
I feel so good I keep forgetting that I had it done, so I have to be careful
not to over do it. The staff was fabulous, doctor Cragg was incredible,
and I'm looking forward to being completely liberated from the rain coats
just 10 short weeks from now...........hooray!
I am now officially a huge fan of the Gentle Vasectomy Clinic. Sign me

Let me start off by saying that I consider myself a normal guy. I play
sports, drink, swear and I can take a lot of physical pain. I had heard
every vasectomy story on the spectrum, from the best to the worst. I did
all the research and had watched a vasectomy being performed on TV. None
of this mattered because the pain that I had a hard time enduring was in
my head.
I kept thinking that the worst-case scenario was about to happen. The
vulnerability of having my testicles worked on turned this man into a boy.
I had a lot of anxiety and was feeling very nervous, to say the least. I
took the Valium from the brown bag, but it didn't seem to work, so I asked
for another one and they accommodated me. The Valium really didn't kick
in until I was half way home. My wife had come with me and they even let
her come into the room and watch the procedure (that was pretty cool!).
Dr. Wong had put me at ease right away. She explained what she was doing
every step of the way and even had the music turned up on my request.
I couldn't have imagined how easy and virtually painless the procedure
was. After it was over I kept saying, is that it? It's now day 4 and I'm
back to work. I haven't had any pain whatsoever & I took Dr. Wong's
advise and chilled out over the weekend. I would definitely recommend this
clinic to anyone who is thinking of having a vasectomy; they don't call
it the Gentle Vasectomy Clinic for nothing.
P.S. Don't let any pranksters scare you into thinking that it's going
to be the end of the world. That was my problem from the beginning. Thanks

I hate needles to begin with and almost chickened out at the last minute.
Because there was a problem finding my left vas, a second incision had to
be made. No problem and no big deal. It has now been 9 hours since the procedure
and I still haven't had to take any pain killers. Just a tiny bit of uncomfort,
but no pain. Playing sports and getting hit in the nuts with a hockey puck
hurts a lot more than this. The only thing that would make this procedure
even better is if they had the same gas as the dentists use. I'm glad I
finally got it done and can't believe how good I feel. thanx.........

little in terms of discomfort or pain. Dr.Cragg and his staff were very

address' ones needs, while the EMLA patch is an easy way to ease into the

like I was ready to resume my routine so quickly. Now almost starting day
3 and feeling like a million bucks. Thanks Dr. Cragg!

It is the right time to write you about the operation. I kept the ice
bag while driving to Hamilton for 90 min. I was "awaiting" the
after surgery pain and it didn't come. I could feel some little discomfort
from time to time while driving but nothing really bothersome. When I got
back home I didn't feel any pain at all not the next day not the day after.
There was
"black eye" spot on one side - a purple bruising, but painless.
The idea of brown bag with all the post operation care products is pretty
well thought out.
I also would like to say that the main reason I made the appointment
for the consultation was the way your nurse spoke to me on the phone. I
called one more office in Kitchener, and the other nurse made a very cold,
not caring, not user friendly impression. I like your friendliness, and
rush free atmosphere at the office. It is very comforting.
If I can make a critical suggestion that would be about the location.
The surrounding area of business and the quality of the building does not
make convincing impression. I like the indoors, but when I stepped out of
my car I got some second thoughts. After meeting you all hesitations were
gone.
Thank you very much,
Waldemar Rudzki

I'm kicking myself lately for all the needless anxiety and worry I had
in the the days before visiting the Gentle Vasectomy Clinic. The procedure
was quick and virtually painless. There has definitely not been any drop
in sex drive or anything like that. The "little brown bag" is
a good idea also.

It is now fours hours since my procedure, I've driven myself home (70
km. no medication), been to my local pub for a pint, visited my loving partner,
( no, not for that), now I think I will rest for a bit. Thank you Dr. Cragg
for making a " scary" experience turn out so well. I feel so silly
for all the wimpy anxiety I was feeling before the procedure. Your kind
manner and expertise really helped put me at ease.

My experience at Dr. Cragg's clinic has been remarkable. It has been
roughly 34 hours since I underwent the procedure and I have experienced
no pain, no discomfort, little or no swelling and no inconvenience. Aside
from the minor embarassment of
"dropping trousers" and being poked an prodded a little, there
has been absolutely no downside to the vasectomy.
From the time I walked in the clinic door at 11:10 (ten minutes early)
until the time I left, it took 35 minutes total. The procedure itself took
only 15 minutes.
During the post-procedure examination (5 minutes after getting off the
table), Dr. Cragg had a hard time finding the incision! I had very little
bleeding (about as much as a bad shaving cut) and no apparent tenderness
or achiness.
While I did not opt for the Valium, I did use the EMLA patch.
This is the way to go!
Thanks Dr. Cragg!

I have had the gentle vasectomy procedure performed by Dr. Paul Cragg.
I am 36 hrs post op and have experienced no difficulties at all. I am not
using any pain medication at all, as there is no need, nor has there been
since the procedure. I cannot stress enough to anyone considering the procedure
how simple and easy it was. The procedure itself proved painless, and things
have been fine since. I did not opt to use either the valium or the EMLA
patch and do not regret the decision as there was no need. I was at work
today, and all is well.
In closing I will state " Anyone concerned with having a vasectomy
and the pain involved must contact Dr. Paul Cragg. The service he provided
me far exceeded my expectations."
Many thanks to the Doctor and to Lorrie who also was very helpful and
informative.

Dear Dr. Cragg
I must thank you on your great bedside manner and sense of humour when
it came to dealing with my nervous jokes and ice-breakers before the procedure.
Everything went better than my expectations. I do recommend the
"brown bag" , to anyone coming to see you. The patch is worth
it's weight in gold. It is 4 days now after the op and have slight discomfort
down there, but nothing like I imagined it would be. Thanks again

Dear Dr. Cragg: Everything from your thorough information session to
the actual procedure involved in obtaining a "gentle vasectomy" was
well conducted, simple and as advertised. If anyone in your region is considering
this procedure, I can't imagine an easier, better qualified medical service
provider. I'm completely satisfied with the experience from the Gentle Vasectomy
Clinic.

Dear Dr. Cragg,
I had never been so anxious as in the days leading up to Friday October
26th. I had been for "Big V"
consultations twice in the past, but had chickened out of the procedure
both times. Now I just feel foolish. The "gentle" vasectomy was
no big deal at all. I felt nothing but shyness during the procedure, and
felt so little discomfort afterward that I had to work hard to remember
to apply the ice pack in the recommended fashion. In fact, I was a little
bit disappointed that I didn't have a weekend of discomfort that I could
MILK FOR ALL IT WAS WORTH. In the days that followed there is nothing to
report but an awareness that one must treat oneself gently for a week or
so. Otherwise, nothing. Thanks for efficient, professional service. I wish
I had done this years ago. As a culture we are all too ready to complain
when things don't go exactly as we like. On the other hand, we forget to
compliment when it is due.

Hello Dr. Cragg,
I was in your office just yesterday, and had the Gentle Vasectomy performed.
I just had to write in to let you know that it was nothing like I had expected.
One would think that even the term "gentle" must still be accompanied
by some level of pain when work is being done "down south". Today,
I went to work as usual, although I did avoid the lifting and constant climbing
that my job usually demands. People who knew I went in for the vasectomy
thought I had changed my mind, and cancelled the operation, as they could
see NO DIFFERENCE in the way I walked, moved, sat, or performed and of my
duties. From the 12 minutes or so that the procedure took, through the remainder
of the procedure day, right through until now, I have had NO PAIN whatsoever.
I seem to be healing up just fine, with no blood, swelling, or any other
post-op symptom one could expect. When I walked out of the room where the
procedure was performed, back into the lobby (at the Peterborough location),
I was unbelievably tempted to run up to the patients (who were quite obviously
planning on having the vasectomy done, based on their worried looks!) and
tell them "No Worries! It truly is GENTLE!". I'd like to take
this opportunity to thank you and Lorrie for your professionalism and treatment.
I will certainly be recommending your service to anyone I know that is considering
this move!
My Sincere Gratitude,
Jeff, Peterborough, ON

Dr. Cragg,
Just as I mentioned to you during the big operation (not really), I think
that you have quite the challenge ahead of you. For two years now I have
been enduring the long stories about vasectomies and the pain that men submit
themselves to in the process. With great persistence (nagging, some may
say) my wife finally convinced me to have the procedure done or suffer the
consequences. Being a virile male with a satiable appetite, and not wanting
to sleep in the garage, I succumbed and let her book the appointment. On
October 5th I visited your Toronto clinic anticipating the end of life as
I once knew it. Five days later I'm still alive, I experienced no pain whatsoever
and I am as libidinous as ever. Getting back to the challenge you face,
how do you impress an audience that rarely visits their doctor in the first
place, has a much lesser pain threshold than they would like the other gender
to believe and, finally, would never ask directions to your clinic after
booking the appointment. It's convenient, it's painless and it's something
that we should be doing considering the option that females face. In advertising
we always talk about features and benefits. We all know the benefits so
what you have to do is find a way to communicate the features. Totally impressed
and now relaxed I remain,

I would like to thank the staff at the clinic for the courteous, prompt,
and most important of all, painless procedure. I am not the surgery type,
because a trip to the dentist usually freaks me out. This wasn't half as
bad as having a filling done! My advice to any men who have it done is to
follow the orders after the procedure militantly. The ice pack procedure
for the next 24 hours meant that I had no discomfort whatsoever, and basically
stayed off my feet for the remainder of the day of the procedure. Also take
the medication as directed and you will find no discomfort. It has been
9 days since I went & everything is pretty well back to normal except
a small area around the entry point which is a little purple but feels fine, & have
basically felt 100% since day 3.
Thanks again to Dr. Cragg & Lorrie for the professional service.

provided to & relayed by my family physician was well done 2) - the
pre-op. patient prep. is discrete and well organized 3) - your support staff
are efficient, personable and supportive 4) - it therefore was no surprise
that meeting you was such a pleasure 5) - your pre-op. description was informative
& comforting 6) - the procedure was quick and painless! (both being
a surprise !) 7) - post-op. care was well described 8) - in summary: I
would regret getting a tooth filing more than another vasectomy!

I just had to e-mail you and tell you thanks for the excellent care and
service that you provided to me on Wednesday Sept 12,. I had previously
considered this procedure, and had made a point of asking that I be asleep
when it occurred.(Big Wimp) I can tell you, that I have been advising my
male friends that when they require this operation to attend your clinic.
My worst complication has been the itch from the shaving. I can't believe
how quickly I have healed and what little pain I have had.
Thank You.

I am now 24 hours after the procedure. I have not had to take any of
the tylenol or any other painkiller. Apart from quite minor discomfort during
the freezing, the procedure was pain free, and I have been pain free since
(unlike a number of friends of mine who had traditional vasectomies; all
of whom complained of significant[and I mean significant!] pain both during
and after the procedure). Apart from taking it easy today, I have been able
to do basically every daily activity. Walking is no problem at all. I agree
with some of the other patients who have said the only painful part of the
entire process is watching the hokey video...
Thanks to Dr. Cragg. I highly recommend him. If you're thinking of a
vasectomy, see him before making any decisions.

OK...I'm about 12 hours post-procedure and pretty much painless! I spent
the first couple of hours wondering if this was going to be painful after
the freezing wore off. When I realized that the freezing effect had in fact
worn off HOURS ago, I went flying. Two hours of stick and rudder, seat-of-the-pants
flying and not one little twinge of pain. Even after 5 touch and go landings
and take-offs.Actually, my testicals have felt more pain playing rugby than
they did with this procedure! My thanks to Dr. Cragg, and his wonderful
assistant (Lynn, I think) in Peterborough. I will certainly recommend him
to those who are interested. Especially after hearing all the horror stories
of those who have shared their experience with conventional vasectomy with
me (enlarged testicals, infection, pain, etc...). To anyone reading this
with consideration of the procedure in mind, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing
the Brown Bag Kit AND the EMLA patch. Think of it this way...if, after having
the procedure and experiencing pain (which I did NOT) and someone offered
to remove that pain for the low, low cost of $35.00, wouldn't you let them????
Think ahead...get the bag AND the patch...you won't be SORE EEEEE ! The
only down side to the whole procedure? You have to sit through that 10 minute
video. The acting in it is the ONLY painful part of the procedure.

I had the gentle vasectomy done three weeks ago, and I would recommend
it to anyone. You'd have to be crazy to have the scapal procedure done without
considering Dr. Cragg's method. The only medication I had was the EMLA patch
(if you consider that medication), which worked great (and the freezing
of course!). After the procedure, I did not take any pain medication or
anti- inflamatories - just used the ice bag. I would say it took about 7
days to feel completly normal, and I did take it pretty easy for the week.
However, after the procudure, I drove for 3 hours, and the next day I cut
the grass. I found the entire experience very comfortable, and Dr. Cragg
did all he could to ensure I was not in any pain during the procedure. Dr.
Cragg has, at some point, shed is white coat and stethiscope and presents
himself in a very down to earth manner, which is refreshing to experience
in a doctor's office. If you are considering a snip job, do some research,
get the facts, and make an informed decision. Don't just blindly head into
the urologist's office. Get in touch with Dr. Cragg.

Hi, The operation was done on July 13 by Dr Cragg, who has vast experience
in this field. The first 24 hours I felt slight discomfort, which is normal,
thereafter it was business as usual. I recommend this procedure to anyone
who may be interested in 'No Scalpel' vasectomy.

5. Dave:
It has been two weeks since I had my procedure. The only thing that shows
I have been through ANYTHING at this point is a small (very small) pink
mark where Dr. Cragg went in to do his thing. Although I spent a week or
so doing a little less than is normal for me I was only really taking it
easy for about 4 days. After that I was fine. The discomfort amounts to
a dull ache for a few days that quickly goes away. Everything works fine
now...if you know what I mean, and I have no discomfort whatsoever. Dr Cragg
does a thorough examination and is very careful. He has an excellent manner.
If you have it done...do it here. I do have a bit of advice though. When
you shave your parts do it a day or two prior to the procedure. The alcohol
swab BURNS on freshly shaved skin.

4. Glenn:
My biggest concern with a vasectomy was my weak stomach. I opted not
to take the diazepam (valium) so that I could drive home immediately following
the procedure. Thanks to the EMLA patch, even the freezing needle didn't
hurt! Aside from my nerves, the whole procedure was quick and painless.
I had it done on a Friday, drove home (three hours in traffic), and was
back to work Monday (light duty). Dr. Cragg took the time to answer questions
I had afterward through email - even on a Sunday. I couldn't believe how
quickly and neatly the "entry wound" healed up. It is nearly unnoticeable.
It seems odd to voluntarily tell people that I had a vasectomy, but I am
so happy with how easy it was that I can't help but to share the experience
with others!
Thanks Dr. Cragg!

3. Rolf:
A comfortable atmosphere makes the waiting and the procedure quite painless.
The introductory visit is good since you get to see a video and can ask
questions. I highly recommend the EMLA patch and the Valium (from the brown
bag) prior to the procedure. It puts you in a relaxed mood and ensures no
discomfort during the injection of the freezing. Quite painless - just make
sure you get that "pressure" feeling when the freezing goes in
- this ensures a good freezing job, which is essential for a pain-free procedure.
After the procedure, I was a bit tender for about 4 hours, but I never had
to take a single pain killer (just take it easy for the first 2 days)! You'll
feel little
"pullings" in the lower abdomen for the first week - slight aches,
but no pain. No problem going to work on day 3, although still a bit tender
(wear the jock - don't wear tight jeans!). By day 10 I was basically back
to normal in terms of mobility and comfort - with an ability to return to
sports, etc...almost like the procedure had never been done. And as everyone
tells you, I can confirm that there was no effect to my libido and no changes
in performance, no pain, or anything else. If you want permanent birth control,
this is a good option, and is a lot less involved and risky than a tubal
ligation for your partner. Hope this helps in your decision. Feel free to
e- mail me if you need any specifics.

Dr. Cragg runs a professional, organized, unhurried office. I arrived
quite early for my appointment as I travelled from Hamilton for the procedure.
Sitting in the waiting room, I saw 4 patients come and go. Some for consultation,
some for the procedure. No one was rushed. The anxiety before the appointment
was more uncomfortable than the procedure itself. It is a painless technique.
Dr. Cragg even calls every patient the day after the procedure to check
on things.
Thanks Doc!

My thanks to Dr. Cragg! This procedure was PAINLESS. Having a tooth extracted
is 100x more painful than the no scalpel vasectomy, and Dr. Cragg is a thorough

thinking about permanent birth control. Please feel free to use me as reference
