Dr. Paul Cragg is the founder and medical director of The Gentle Vasectomy Clinic ® - the GVC. He graduated in medicine in 1969 from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, interned at the Montreal General hospital, and trained in Family Medicine at the Ottawa Civic hospital. He was a Family Physician in British Columbia for 3 years in the early 1970s before going to New Zealand in 1975 for further training, including a position as a surgical registrar at Waikato hospital, Hamilton, NZ. He returned to his home town of Peterborough Ontario in 1977 and passed the exam for Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) in 1978.  He worked as a Family Physician until 1989 then pursued his interest in palliative care. After further training and experience in Toronto learning cancer and palliative care, he returned to Peterborough where he worked as a palliative care consultant until 2002. He has been operating The Gentle Vasectomy Clinic since 2000.

He has three grown children - a daughter and two sons, and two grandchildren. He is a fourth generation resident of Peterborough and his father, paternal grand-father and uncle were all doctors in Peterborough. His interests currently include music, skiing, sailing and travel.

Brian is the Clinic Manager. He has been with the Clinic since December 2002, starting as accounts manager. He now also manages the day to day operations of the Clinic including appointments and receiving patients on arrival. He is a retired elementary teacher with the Peterborough School Board. After retiring from teaching, he served for two years as Controller for a fire services company, assisted in an accounting office and spent two years as a care giver at a local retirement home. He is married to Ellen, has 3 daughters, and one grand-daughter.

Manon joined our staff in February 2008 as our instrument technician and office assistant. Her primary focus is to prepare the sterile surgical instruments for the doctors. She works as a dental assistant across the hall in our building during the days and helps in our office after that. She comes from Boucherville, Quebec, is married and has 2 children.

The Gentle Vasectomy Clinic GVC was conceived and founded by Dr. Cragg in 2000, opening initially in May of that year in Scarborough. An office in Peterborough, where Dr. Cragg lives, was opened in May 2001. The Scarborough office was closed in March 2004 and operations are now done only at our location in Peterborough. We had an affiliate in Oakville for 4 years until late 2006 but no longer have any Oakville connection. The GVC takes great care and pride in offering a high quality service both in the vasectomy operation itself using the No-Scalpel Vasectomy technique plus making the whole experience as convenient as possible. We do this by not requiring a referral from a Family Doctor to see us, offering an appointment that combines both consultation and operation in one visit, and trying to keep waiting time for appointments as short as possible, hopefully less than a month from the time of patients contacting us. Our focus is very much on personal service and we appreciate feedback and suggestions at any time that may help us to improve how we help our patients.
